Ben Sheets Tosses Complete Game Against Braves

Published by ken77 under MLB Baseball Edit This

Milwaukee Brewers ace Ben Sheets tossed a four-hitter yesterday and Mike Cameron hit a two-run home run to give Sheets all the support he need as the Brewers stopped the Braves 4-1. Sheets was dominate all night long and retired the last 16 batters he faced. Sheets is now 9-1 and if he can stay healthy which has always been the key for Sheets he could be a 20 game winner this year. He is the Brewers ace and without him they are going nowhere this year.

Mark Martin On The Move Again?

Published by ken77 under Auto Racing, Nascar Edit This

Mark Martin could be on the move again if you put your faith in all the rumors surrounding him. According to various reports he will be leaving DEI and heading to Hendrick Motorsports next year to replace Casey Mears who will not be returning. No one has denied or confirmed any of this yet.

For Mark Martin this could be his final chance to get a championship that has always eluded him. He knows he will get the best equipment and will have some of the best teammates around. I would be shocked if Martin does not make this move. I guess only time will tell if this rumor is true or not. I will keep you posted.

Braves Teixeria Launches Three Home Runs In Win

Published by ken77 under MLB Baseball Edit This

Atlanta Braves Slugger Mark Teixeira has not had the greatest of seasons so far, but yesterday could be the start of something big for him. Teixeira hit three home runs in the same game one from the right side and two from the left side to power the Bravers to a 8-3 win over the Seattle Mariners. This was the biggest output for a Brave in one game since Bob Horner hit four in a game in 1986.

if Teixeira gets hot and the Braves have no chance of making the playoffs look for the Braves to entertain trade talks for Teixeira. Many teams that are trying to win a World Series can always use a good bat and when Texieira is hot he is a very good hitter.

Kyle Busch Adds Sonoma To Resume

Published by ken77 under Nascar Edit This

 rpm_g_kbusch1_200.jpg

Kyle Busch added another feather in his cap as he won the Savemart 300 in Sonoma California. Busch without a doubt had the best car and no one had anything for him all day long. The race was mostly caution free until the end where we had some cautions  that shuffled the ending of the race.

Many people thought all the cautions would hurt Busch, but it did not bug him at all he just kept going. Busch continues to lead the series and this win does not hurt that. One thing I noticed was after the race when a reporter try to start trouble between Tony Stewart and Kevin Harvick. Harvick hit Tony Stewart from behind in the race and the reporter kept pressing Stewart about it. To Stewart’s credit he just ignore it and had no comment. It seems all reporters want to do is cause trouble between drivers.

David Gilliand had a great run and finished second while Jeff Gordon took third place. Road racing is something many drivers hate and some are glad they do not have to come back for another year. Of course if you finish in the top 10 you do not mind coming back.

Carl Edwards Shoves His Way To Win In Milwaukee

Published by ken77 under Nascar Edit This

rpm_a_edwards1_sq_300.jpg

Carl Edwards did not want to win the way he did, but he will take it. Edwards moved Clint Bowyer out of the way with 25 laps left to go to capture the win at Milwaukee. Edwards did not mean to do it the way he did, but I am sure Bowyer will have something to say about it in the future. Bowyer has hinted towards payback and I would be surprised if he does not.

Joey Logano continued his impressive showing as he finished second behind Edwards. It seems that the Nationwide Series is getting just like the Sprint Cup series and that is more willing to wreck people for a win. People sometimes do not understand how much a win means to a driver and a sponsor. If you want to keep your sponsor happy you must win as the bottom line is they pay the bills.

I would look for this to continue in the future as well. When so much is on the line anymore people will do whatever it takes to be in victory lane.

Dice-K Gets Shelled In Return To Mound

Published by ken77 under MLB Baseball Edit This

 7906.jpg

Dice-K started the season with the Boston Red Sox and looked like he was going to have a CY Young season, but had to shut it down earlier in the season because of a mild strain in his rotator cuff. Yesterday Dice-K returned to the mound and it was not what he expected as he lasted a little over one inning giving up 7 runs in route to a 9-3 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. With the Red Sox losing Curt Schilling they are really going to need Dice-K to come back stronger than ever. It probably will take time for him to get back into the groove. if he does not than the Red Sox may need to trade for a pitcher.

Battle Of Chicago: Round One Cubs

Published by ken77 under MLB Baseball Edit This

c28d4c24-f7f1-42b1-85b0-7e902dd36165_thumbnail.jpg

The Battle of Chicago Game 1 was very exciting as Armis Ramirez hit a walk off home run off of Scott Linebrink to give the Chicago Cubs a 4-3 win over the White Sox in front over over 40,000 fans in Chicago.

This series pits both teams from Chicago and both stand in first place right now so this is a series that many people will be watching besides the fans of each team in Chicago. This could quite possibly be a World Series preview as you never know what could happen down the road. Look for this series to be tight for the remaining two games as well.

Rose or Beasley Who Would You Take

Published by ken77 under NBA Basketball Edit This

Derrick Rose and Michael Beasley make their case to become the number one pick in the NBA draft as both players worked out for the Chicago Bulls and made their claim. Either choice would be a good move for the Chicago Bulls. Derrick Rose who is from Chicago has been vocal about his desire to be a Chicago Bull. Being from Chicago their will be a lot of pressure for the Chicago Bulls to draft him.

Michael Beasley is another player the Chicago Bulls also are looking at. Beasley has plenty of up side and will continue to be a player that the Chicago Bulls will look at. I personally like Beasley, but Rose being from Chicago will be a much better choice in my opinion.

Either one will be a great choice and it will be a tough decision. The Bulls have a good team and each one will be a welcome addition to the team. Of course the Bulls could also trade the pick which is something they may want to consider.

Packers May Have Interest In Jason Taylor

Published by ken77 under NFL Football Edit This

The Green Bay Packers have indicated that they maybe interested in the Miami Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor. Taylor would fit perfect in the scheme that the Packers run and I think Jason Taylor would welcome the trade as being in Miami could be a big hassle for him.

I personally think Jason Taylor has a lot of football left in him and maybe a change of scenery is exactly what he needs to change things. Only time will tell if a trade will happen for Jason Taylor. I am sure Packer fans would love to see him on the defensive line for them. He still has something left in the tank and he could help push the Packers to a Super Bowl charge.

Boston Routs Lakers To Take NBA Title

Published by ken77 under NBA Basketball Edit This

 nba_ap_doc_gatorade_400.jpg

The Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers all season has preached defense and that is what wins championships if you do not believe me just as the Los Angeles Lakers. The Celtics turned up the defense in Game 6 and throttled the Los Angeles Lakers by a score of 131-92.  The Celtics won the championship the way they have done it all year long with defense.

Paul Pierce was named the finals MVP and he deserved it. He played well in the series and elevated his game when it counted the most. This is why he was named the Most Valuable Player in the series.

As  far as  the Lakers and Kobe Bryant go if you do not play defense you will not beat anyone and that is what happen. The Lakers needed to play defense and in the last few games they just stood around while the Celtics were hungry for a Championship. The Lakers are young and they will be back, but for now it is the Celtics turn to shine.
