Dennis Johnson A Total Team Player
When I hear the name Dennis Johnson many things come to my mind. I first remember getting a chance to see him play and that was with the Seattle Supersonics where he came off the bench. As he got more playing time he showed people what he could do. The one think that D.J. always showed was he gave 100 percent effort all the time. That anymore is rare in the NBA.
D.J. moved on to Boston after a stint in Seattle and Phoenix, but Boston is where he really made a name for himself. Johnson became a even greater player as he had plenty of talent around him. Johnson was not a guy who want all the records he just wanted to make his teammates better when he was on the floor which he did.
Larry Bird called him the greatest teammate he ever had which should speak volumes about the kind of player and man he was. Magic Johnson also credit him with being the greatest defensive player he ever played again. This is very high praised from some of the best players of all time.
Dennis Johnson scored over 15,000 points and easily should be in the Basketball Hall Of Fame, but he is not. It is a shame that he died of cardiac arrest as one day he would have got the call to the Hall of Fame. Hopefully that call will still come so we can remember one of the better players that never got the credit he deserved.
