Cardinals, Chargers Advance To Next Round

Published by ken77 at 11:44 am under NFL Football Edit This

The Arizona Cardinals limped into the playoffs as they were not exactly playing their best football, but it did not matter as they beat the Atlanta Falcons by a score of 30-24. Kurt Warner came out and got the Cardinals going fast and they never really looked back. Warner was 19 for 32 and 271 yards and two touchdowns. Matt Ryan was a rookie and he showed flashes of that as the Cardinals picked him off twice and also recovered a fumble. The Cardinals defense stopped Michael Turner as well which really hurt the Falcons offense, but in the end the Falcons had no real answers for Warner and crew.

The Indianapolis Colts had to play San Diego again and just like the last couple of times the results were not good. The Chargers got 105 yards rushing and two touchdowns  from backup running back Darren Sproles who replaced an injured L. T. to lead the Chargers to a 23-17 win in overtime and into the second round. The Colts had plenty of chances, but did not get the job done when needed which was a surprise as they have been playing very well.
