Will The BCS Get It Right This Year?

Published by ken77 under College Football Edit This

Well the big question is after the Bowl season has ended will the BCS have the right National Champion. Of course the answer is no, but this year it is not all the BCS fault. It seems that every conference is getting better and finding the one team that is heads and shoulders above the rest is really tough. This year is no exception either. Utah stomped Alabama and finished a perfect 13-0, but will not be National Champion. USC dominated a Penn State team easily and put their claim on the National Championship tile as their’s. Now Texas is also in the picture as the third ranked Longhorns beat Ohio State 24-21 in a thrilling Fiesta Bowl in Tempe Arizona. The funny part is all have a legitimate claim to the title, but none will see it.

Oklahoma and Florida the No. 1 and No.2 teams have yet to play. Now if Oklahoma does win than Utah and Texas has a real beef. Oklahoma did get beat by Texas who right now stands third and Utah has a gripe since they are undefeated. Isn’t the BCS just great how we can never agree on the best team in College Football. Wouldn’t it be much simpler just to have a playoff system so the best team could decide it on the field. Instead we could have a National Championship team that got beat by the number two team. How about that for being fair, or a team that goes undefeated could only finish third. Wow what a fair system we have in College Football. The BCS and College Presidents should be ashamed of what they are doing. These kids generate thousands of dollars for their colleges and we cannot even do them justice by a playoff system.  Hopefully somewhere down the line in a few years someone will stand up and get this thing fixed.

Drew Brees AP Offensive Player Of The Year

Published by ken77 under NFL Football Edit This

On a team with only an 8-8 record Drew Brees was setting all kinds of records and almost passed Dan Marino’s record of  5, 084 yards, but fell 15 yards short of that record. Brees ended up with 5,069 yards passing and 34 touchdowns. Brees did this on a team that struggled and some of the weapons that Brees was suppose to have were hurt part of the time. The one thing about Drew Brees you never heard him complain about the injuries he just competed ever week and his stats showed that. I cannot imagine how bad the record the Saints would have if he did not play. Below is others who got votes also.

Drew Brees, Saints 22
Peyton Manning, Colts 9
DeAngelo Williams, Panthers 2
Steve Smith, Panthers 1

Milton Bradley Signs Deal With Cubs Pending Physical

Published by ken77 under MLB Baseball Edit This

According to ESPN sports Milton Bradley has signed a deal with the Chicago Cubs for 3 years and 30 million dollars. Bradley played last year with the Texas Rangers where he did have an outstanding season. The Cubs are expected to move Jason Marquis to the Colorado Rockies to free up some room to pay Bradley. Now this move in my eyes really does not make a lot of sense.  I understand what the Cubs were trying to do by signing him, but Bradley has struggled to stay healthy his whole career.

He also has had many run-ins in baseball with umpires, players, and even fans so I do not know if I would pay a guy that kind of money when you really do not know when he is going to snap and hurt your ballclub. If you think about it Bradley has been with  seven teams now counting the Cubs. Just goes to show that many people have found Bradley to be more of a problem than help to a ballclub. I guess we will see how well he does. I am hoping for the Cubs he stays clean and is a model citizen, but knowing Bradley I seriously doubt it.

Colt McCoy Stops Ohio State’s Upset Bid With Late TD Pass

Published by ken77 under College Football Edit This

Colt McCoy has done it all season long needing a touchdown drive late to win it so this was really nothing new to the Texas Longhorn quarterback. McCoy engineered a 76 yard drive capped off with a 26 yard TD pass to Quan Cosby for the thrilling 24-21 win for the Longhorns. Texas who was left out of the National Championship title picture hopes this win proves something to a lot of people. McCoy finished up 41 of 59 for 414 yards against a good Buckeye defense so that was very impressive.

Texas really does not have a shot of winning the National Championship, but this is a team to0 watch out for next year. With many players coming back and Colt McCoy at the helm you just never want to count this team out. No matter what happens next year Colt McCoy and Texas proved last night is you can never count them out as long as time is left on the clock.
