Tony Dungy Will Be Missed By Many

This past Monday Tony Dungy decided it was time to retire from coaching to spend more time with his family and to do some other things. Dungy coaches for 13 years in the NFL six with the Buccaneers and seven with the Colts. Dungy was a quiet man it seemed on the sidelines, but had been known to voice his opinion when the time called for it. He amassed a total of 148 wins which is not to shabby at all. One of the things that I really admire about Dungy is how former players would talk about him. When he got fired from Tampa Bay players were saddened because they knew they lost a great coach and a great man as well. Even today players who have played for him tell about how much he has helped them and the respect they have for him.

In today’s game we need people like Tony Dungy who teaches the game the way it should be and commands respect wherever he goes. It is sad that he is leaving, but he got to leave on his own terms and that is very important as well. Dungy was a quiet leader that got the most out of his players in a way many other coaches should try.
